Philips Faxjet 555 Ink Cartridges Printer Review
Expert review of the Philips Faxjet 555 printer 06 June 2012
Adding an answering machine to its robust feature set, the Philips Faxjet 555 offers inkjet faxing, telephone, SMS, and copier functionalities all in a single, compact device. The Philips Faxjet 555 is basically the same machine as previous Faxjet models, only it offers an answering machine that allows message forwarding, 30 minute-record time, and call screening. It is ideal for businesses and even home offices in need of a reliable machine that can store printed and spoken messages, as well as offer document handling features. The Faxjet 555 can be expensive to run, though, especially when receiving a constant influx of fax messages that need printing, as well as copying large quantities of documents at a time.
The Philips Faxjet 555 inkjet fax closely resembles its predecessors, featuring a paper tray that can handle up to 100 sheets of plain paper, along with an automatic document feeder that can handle as many as 20 pages. The machine still runs on a 14,400 bps modem, while the LCD screen displays tasks, basic functions, caller IDs, and other important information.
Best used for personal businesses and small offices, the Philips Faxjet 555 plain paper fax can store up to 150 fax pages, and prints at average resolutions of 300x300 dpi. The Philips Fax 555 printer also has redial memory of the last 10 numbers. Call screening is possible with the answering machine. The copier has 'enlarge' and 'reduce' functions. The SMS function can store up to 30 messages in total (sent and received SMS).
While the Philips 555 fax machine offers a long list of advantages, it also has a couple of downsides, starting from high ink cost to the lack of scan and standalone print capabilities.
