Citizen CBM920 Ink Cartridges Printer Review
Expert review of the Citizen CBM920 printer 08 January 2013
The Citizen impact dot-matrix printer CBM920 is a compact and lightweight printer that can process receipts fast for improved productivity. Aimed at small businesses, the Citizen CBM920 printer is able to accommodate ample amount of paper roll and comes with special features to make it easier to operate, but the CBM-920 POS printer lacks an on-board control panel.
The Citizen CBM920 dot-matrix printer is lightweight, weighing only 0.5Kg with the ink ribbon cartridge and mounting brackets. The plain frame measures 115mm wide, 119mm tall, and 65mm deep, and it encloses a serial impact dot-matrix engine with two printheads and four pins. A single Citizen 3000101 ink ribbon cartridge is required to run the machine. The parallel and serial interfaces are compatible with centronics and RS-232C.
It has auto paper loading functions and a sensor that alerts users when paper is about to run out. It supports 24 and 40-column printing with speeds ranging from 1.8 to 2.5 lines per second. The Citizen CBM-920 impact printer can accommodate copier paper and single-sheet media so users can easily produce multiple receipts. Special ribbon cartridges are available for the device other than the typical black cartridge. The Citizen CBM920 receipt printer supports various print languages and operates in low power, making it cheaper to run. It can be mounted on a wall to save further space.
Loading paper rolls into the Citizen CBM-920 can be tricky. The design is too plain and industrial-looking for stylish and more contemporary establishments. The device uses thermal printing, so output eventually fades after a few months. The buffer size of the CBM920 is only 2Kb, so complex receipts might take time to print. There is no control panel on-board.
